Education
Having access to an education is a human right that is often denied to people with disabilities in Indonesia. For this reason we make sure that all of our members can access formal or informal education if they wish to do so. Members who are school age are encouraged and supported to attend and finish their formal schooling. Members who were unable to attend school due to lack of access or discrimination are encouraged and supported to participate in informal education like English classes, computer classes etc..
Education forms part of the triangle of discrimination that face people with disabilities in Indonesia every day. We cannot get education because schools are not accessible, without education we cannot get employment. If we do manage to get an education then we cannot get employment because buildings are not accessible and employers are not willing to make allowances or changes to the work environments. Each point of the triangle links with the other creating an environment in which we are unable to fulfill our dreams and goals. Our education program tries to overcome this.
We want our members to fulfill their goals of attending school or university. If you are able to support one of us with a scholarship we would love to talk with you!
